Not only is Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 the worst movie in the Twilight Saga, it is also one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Although if I’m being honest with myself, I may have enjoyed it a lot more if there were no other Twilight books or movies in existence for me to make comparisons with. This is because my biggest issue with the movie is something that is unique to the Twilight universe, and really has nothing to do with it being a lesser film. I’ll get into details about that very soon, but first to mention some of the things that just make this a bad movie.

First of all, pretty much nothing happens in the first 75 minutes of the movie. Really. It’s boring. All of that could have easily been condensed into a few minutes, slapped onto the end of Breaking Dawn Pt 1 and made it a single movie. There is just not enough interesting and exciting content for Breaking Dawn to have been split into two movies. This is directly relate to my second issue, which is the mismatched pacing. The beginning is slow and boring, and then all of a sudden it’s fast, exciting, then it ends. By the time the action started my attention was already lost, and it didn’t help that the action scene just pissed me off. Now be aware that the rest of this review will contain spoilers for the movie. There is no other way for me to discuss my hatred of Breaking Dawn Pt 2 without spoilers, so proceed with caution.

That fight scene…WTF. Readers of the book are probably thinking “What fight scene? There is no fighting in Breaking Dawn!” And they would be correct. The last half hour of Breaking Dawn the movie is nowhere to be seen in Breaking Dawn the book. I understand why it was added, and it’s because the book has no action what so ever. No one even swats a fly! Action and romance sell. Peaceful agreements do not. I could have supported this addition if it had made sense. However, it doesn’t and that’s my biggest issue with this movie.

There is no way Alice could have had that vision. There is a 0% chance Alice could have seen this made up battle between the Cullens and the Volturi. Why you ask? Well, she can’t see the wolves or Renesme, so explain to me how she was able to see Jacob run away with Renesme only to get  murdered? The very fact that Jacob and Nessie were present would have made it so that Alice couldn’t see it coming. Not only that, but there’s like twenty other Quiluete wolves at the fight! Someone seriously screwed up big time. This wouldn’t be a big deal if it was something that only happened in the books but didn’t carry over to the films. But in New Moon, Alice even says “I couldn’t see around your pack of mutts!” Then again in Breaking Dawn Pt 1 she says something along the lines of “If I could see it, maybe I could figure out what it wants” when referring to Renesme as a fetus. All of the Cullens are worried because they don’t know what’s going to happen, since Bella has “disappeared” from Alice’s sight.

So there you have it, Alice cannot have seen that battle to show Aro. It just couldn’t have happened. “But it was Aro’s decision that prompts the vision!” No, it doesn’t matter. Remember when Bella jumped off the cliff and Alice didn’t see her come up because Jacob appeared? Well that was Bella’s decision and she still couldn’t see anything with a wolf there! Along those same lines, the super cheesy, happy ending couldn’t have happened either. Again, Alice has visions of Jacob and Renesme growing up and being together. SHE CANNOT SEE THEM IN HER VISIONS! Yes, it was a cute way to end the movie, but it just does not fit the rules of the Twilight universe. I’m probably just being cynical at this point, but you just can’t do that kind of stuff.

I will end with something positive: Charlie. I loved the scene of Jacob showing Charlie what he really is. His reaction to Jacob getting naked is priceless! But even my beloved Charlie couldn’t save this piece of crap movie.
